From an early age, I have always been interested in people—we are such fascinating creatures. This deep-rooted curiosity brought me down two paths. First, I became a social psychologist. I designed studies, ran experiments, and published my work in scientific journals to answer the myriad of questions I had regarding people. Second, I became a speculative fiction author. I found that over time many of my ponderings went beyond the science and crossed into the art of human nature. Within my writing, I am able to design worlds, situations, and people that push past the constraints of our mundane world but still speak to the what, how, and why of human behavior. I write horror, weird, and dark fantasy fiction perhaps because, like much of my research suggests, the dark side of human nature it so often the most fascinating…and revealing.
